Error Control

What are parity cards?

Parity cards are cards that have black on one side and white on the other. Those two represent two different things which is where the black represents and even, and the white represents an odd. The cards are used for coding like in computerizing. The only difference is that they use slightly different coding like 111101000100.

What did we do?

We got into groups of three or four and sat down on the floor with these cards. We would arrange them in 8 columns and 8 rows. We made sure that the columns were even and had one of the people from our group turn around. One of us would turn a card over and the person who turned around, turns back around and tries to find which card is flipped over. This helps us and the people who do computerizing find the error in the coding.
