Coach Carter is a motivational movie where he teaches kids from streets with nowhere to go discipline, respect, and the importance of education through the sport Basketball. Mr Carter turns into a role model for them and shows them that there is more in life than drugs and having no education in life. He also wants them to get a scholarship, think about the future and let them have the opportunities that he had.
The way that Coach Carter had demonstrated and showed discipline was that he took his training's to extreme measures and enforcing the way that he wanted things done in his team for basketball but also for their school work. The way that he does this for basketball is that he uses contact towards them and really meaningful words that could possibly contribute in his life. For their school work he uses what they love against them, for example Mr Carter closes the gym and cancels their games until they can attend all classes and obtain a 2.3 average.
Another aspect that Coach Carter was looking at was them showing respect towards other team players and to their coach. At the start they were very slack at doing it but then Coach Carter had them really think about their future and know what values that they would have needed for themselves and others. Also they were being very unsportsmanlike in one of their games so then Mr Carter had interpreted them in their game at training and showed them how the other team was feeling. It had worked and they showed sportsmanship throughout and after their future games.
I could learn a lot of Interpersonal Skills and attitudes towards others, learning and sports. Watching this movie was very mesmerizing and delivered different messages throughout the movie. We could use discipline in the classroom by really restraining ourselves from others, while the teachers talking and use respect by looking after one another and treating others the way we want to be treated.
